Some farm news: it has been a wonderful day on the farm. Today we had an experienced regenerative farmer on N’Rougas Farm with us. We learn so much when experts visit. One of our favourite activities has become to look at what grasses and plants are growing, and whats happening to the health of the soil. (Yes, the growing lambs are important too, they are our tool to restore our soil). Soil today was our key focus. Malcolm Kroon showed us what healthy roots look like. They have Glomalin (new word for me too) attached to their roots. “This is something that has been consistently associated with a list of plant and soil benefits, including soil aggregation, soil carbon storage and enhancing growth under abiotic stress (includes drought) – and if i may just say one more thing here – abiotic stress is apparently a primary cause of crop loss world wide.
