A sweet, fiery spice from Bushmanland
Pink pepper trees grow easily in arid conditions. They can be found on the streets and in backyards of many Karoo towns.
Cooking inspiration:
These lovely looking corns can be used to elevate both sweet and savoury dishes.
Sweet:
Dark chocolate brownies spiced with cardamom, cinnamon & cloves;
Add to vanilla shortbread.
Add to stewed cherry or peach panna cotta
Savoury:
Spiced lamb ribs;
Include in your pickling recipes;
Use in a gorgonzola & cream sauce for your beef;
Mix with black and green peppercorns to create your own rainbow mix.
Seasonality:
The trees bear fruit from January to March, depending on rain
